New Director & Head Curator for TCNJ Art Gallery and Sarnoff Collection Announced

 

The College of New Jersey School of the Arts and Communication is pleased to welcome Margaret Pezalla-Granlund as the new Director and Head Curator for the TCNJ Art Gallery and Sarnoff Collection.

Pezalla-Granlund comes to TCNJ from Carleton College, where she was the Curator of Library Art and Exhibitions in Gould Library. While at the Gould Library, Pezalla-Granlund collaborated with artists, historians, mathematicians, and scientists from the campus community to curate a variety of interdisciplinary exhibitions.

Pezalla-Granlund has worked extensively in both art and science museums, including managing professional development programs for K-12 teachers with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, leading workshops that integrated programmable technologies and traditional building and art materials at the Science Museum of Minnesota, and developing a training program for museum interpreters for the Computer Museum in Boston. Pezalla-Granlund has also taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota in the Department of Art and has written curricular resources for Scratch, a free site that was developed by MIT to teach young students how to code.

Pezalla-Granlund has a Master of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts and a Bachelor of Arts from St. Olaf College. She has received numerous awards and grants, including a McKnight Foundation Artist Fellowship, a Lucas Artist Residency at the Montalvo Art Center, , a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant, and a Kellogg Leadership Seminar Fellowship through the Association of Academic Museums and Galleries.

Pezalla-Granlund will be start as the Director and Head Curator for the TCNJ Art Gallery and Sarnoff Collection in August.
