Art Education Coordinator
Associate Professor LaJevic received her Ph.D. and B.S. in Art Education from the Pennsylvania State University. Prior to teaching art education courses and supervising student art teachers at Penn State, she was employed as an art teacher in an arts-infused elementary school near Pittsburgh, PA, and concurrently earned her M.Ed. in Art Education at Carlow University. Her research interests include arts integration, teacher education, and curriculum and instruction. The outcome of this research has led to a number of conference presentations, a co-authored paper published in Qualitative Inquiry, and various scholarships. She is an active member of many professional associations, including the Curriculum and Pedagogy group where she currently serves as the registrar. In addition to working in the public school system, she has worked with several art museums and non-profit community art organizations. Re/thinking the arts as a space of inquiry, she explores art education as a living curriculum, it’s potential for interdisciplinary teaching and learning, and the educational possibilities for the future.
