“Theresa Pfarr is a painter currently exploring the figure in landscape. Painted from preexisting imagery from fashion ads, social media, film and personal memories, her paintings feature female protagonists pressed into abstracted worlds that counter traditional picturesque painting. Through a process of doing and undoing, figures are taken from their original, often clichéd context, and then painted into darker, dreamier realms. The anxiety of constant revision is at the center of her work.”
