Kandahar Treasure: Empowering Afghan Women One Stitch at a Time

We are so honored to have Rangina Hamidi, activist and founder of Kandahar Treasure, visit TCNJ in conjunction with Women’s History month and the exhibition, “Art Amongst War: Visual Culture in Afghanistan, 1979-2014.”

Please join us for her lecture, “Kandahar Treasure: Empowering Afghan Women One Stitch at a Time,” on Wednesday, March 26, at 5:30 p.m. in the Library Auditorium.

Hamidi will discuss the mission, history, challenges, and success of Kandahar Treasure, an enterprise founded by Hamidi to empower Afghan women by reviving traditional embroidery techniques and developing economic sustainability. Her presentation will be followed by a discussion and Q&A led by TCNJ Professor Marla Jaksch.
