Need a Portfolio?

 

Acceptance to the Visual Arts major requires a successful portfolio review as well as admission by the College. Portfolio submission is required for Visual Art and Dual Visual Arts/Education students enrolled in one of the following programs: Deaf Education and Art (DEAR), Early Childhood Education and Art (ECAR), Elementary Education and Art (ELAR), or Special Education and Art (SEAR).

 

Note: Portfolios are OPTIONAL for Art Education applicants.

Requirements

In order to be considered for admission into the Visual Art, Art Education, or Dual Education/Visual Arts programs,
applicants must:

  • Apply to TCNJ. For more information about the submission process to the college, please visit our Admissions website.
  • Create a Portfolio. For more information about the portfolio requirements, visit our portfolio requirements page.
  • Submit a Portfolio. Students should submit work through SlideRoom.

Please note that a strong portfolio at Art Folio Day could meet the portfolio requirements for admission to the Art Education and Visual Arts major.

Open Options Program

If you do not have a portfolio, you are encouraged to apply as an Open Options student to the School of Arts and Communication. The Open Option Program in the School of Arts and Communication is designed for those students who are not ready to declare a major but are interested in one or more programs within the School.

Students in Open Options may enroll in studio art classes as freshmen to build up a portfolio and then can submit an application to apply for a major within the Department of Art and Art History.
