Need a Portfolio?

Acceptance to the Visual Arts program requires a successful portfolio review in addition to acceptance by the TCNJ’s Office of Admissions. Portfolios are OPTIONAL for Art Education applicants.

Application Requirements

To be considered for admission into the Visual Art program, applicants must:

  1. Apply to TCNJ: For more information about the submission process to the college, please visit our Admissions website.
  2. Create a Portfolio: For more information about the requirements, visit our portfolio requirements page.
  3. Submit a Portfolio: Students should submit work through SlideRoom.

Please note that a strong portfolio reviewed during Art Folio Day could meet the portfolio requirements for admission to the Visual Art program.

Undeclared / No portfolio

If you do not have a portfolio, you are encouraged to apply to the Undeclared – School of the Arts and Communication program, which is designed for those students who are not ready to declare a major but are interested in one or more programs within the school. Undeclared students may enroll in studio art classes as freshmen to build up a portfolio and then submit an application to apply for a major within the Department of Art and Art Education.
